Negotiations are underway for the fiscal year 2020-2021 federal budget that begins on October 1st.
For 50 years, the Title X federal family planning program has supported the delivery of essential services like birth control, STD prevention and treatment, and cancer screenings to millions of low-income and uninsured patients across the country.
The Trump Administration’s changes to the Title X program that took effect last fall have devastated the nation’s family planning safety net. The number of patients served in California has been reduced by 40% since the regulations were implemented, disproportionately impacting underserved and rural areas, and communities of color.
The House of Representatives is scheduled to vote on funding for Title X and other federal programs in the coming days. The federal appropriations process provides an opportunity to reverse the Trump Administration’s Title X regulations and protect access to comprehensive family planning services for all.
Take action TODAY: contact your Representative and urge them to vote for a budget that protects Title X and access to sexual and reproductive health services for low-income women, men, and teens nationwide.
